FC Groningen Claims Victory as Heracles Almelo Falters on the Road

In the Wednesday fixture on Hitachi Capital Mobility Stadium, FC Groningen dominated on their home ground, sealing a commanding triumph over Heracles Almelo and securing a vital three points. The clash in the Eredivisie concluded with an emphatic 4-1 scoreline.

FC Groningen silenced Heracles Almelo when Marco Rente netted in the fourth minute, with an assist from Luciano Valente.

With four games remaining, FC Groningen are in ninth place in the table while Heracles Almelo are in 10th.

In the 16th minute Jorg Schreuders increased the lead for FC Groningen with an assist by Tika de Jonge.

4-1 came through an own-goal in the 59th minute, which was the final result.

Heracles Almelo’s Thomas Bruns made it 2-1 just four minutes later later as he found the net, with an assist by Jizz Hornkamp.

Straight after the break, Leandro Bacuna made his mark and increased FC Groningen’s lead.

FC Groningen’s next Eredivisie games are against RKC Waalwijk (home) on 3 May, AZ (away) on 11 May and Ajax (home) on 14 May. Heracles Almelo play Feyenoord (home) on 3 May, Willem II (away) on 9 May and PSV (away) on 14 May.
