Every match is fascinating because the stakes are great, and the majority of the teams, like Real Madrid and Barcelona, are well-known across the world.

Big names like Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski, who are admired by many, bring life and excitement to the league. But it’s not just them that make La Liga famous—it’s also the unpredictable games that are thrilling and nerve-wracking, drawing in bettors who love the excitement.

If you want to make your La Liga betting experience a better one, then we at Tipsportal have got you covered with our sports betting tips. When choosing a Singapore Sportsbook,  just make sure they offer La Liga matches for you to bet on!

A Brief History of La Liga

La Liga is the top professional football (soccer) division of the Spanish football league system and for those who don't know it is the best in Spain. Yes, like the other football leagues like EPL, Bundesliga, and Serie A, this league is one of the fan favorites among football fans. The thrill it brings to every match, the legacy it carries, the names familiar to the fans, and the passion on the field all make it one of the finest leagues of soccer.

The league was founded in 1929 and featured 20 teams, including some of the most famous clubs, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid. Every season, teams in La Liga fight for the title, for a place in European competition, such as the UEFA Champions League, or to avoid being relegated to the second division of Spanish football

This basically leaves the league exciting and a long season filled with surprises as matches are being played between August and May. Its fields have glittered with legendary players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

What is the Format of La Liga?

This league has 20 teams battling it out for the trophy. It follows an August to May timeframe like the English Premier League (EPL). Every team plays 38 games — one home and one away against each other team. A win gives teams 3 points, 1 point for a draw, and a loss receives nothing.

The club with the most points at the end of the season will be declared the champions of La Liga. If two or more teams end up with the same points, their head-to-head record will be used to determine their position.

This league also uses a promotion and relegation system. The bottom three teams in the standings, or those with the lowest points, are relegated to the Segunda Division, which is known as Spain’s second-tier league.

Meanwhile, the top two teams from the Segunda División, along with a third team that wins a playoff, are promoted to La Liga.

Spanish Outright Winner: Who Will Win La Liga for the 2024-2025 Season?

For the La Liga title, Real Madrid is the bookmakers' favorite to bring home the trophy even before the season started. With the arrival of France’s team captain, Kylian Mbappé, at Real Madrid and his leadership in guiding his team to the FIBA World Cup Finals, Los Blancos now find themselves in a stronger position compared to their main rivals, Barcelona.

Third-placed Atlético Madrid, who last won the title in 2020/21, will find it an even taller order to challenge their city neighbors this time.

Carlo Ancelotti has an incredible lineup of stars, including Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, Mbappé, and the dynamic French midfield duo Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga. It’s hard to imagine another team outperforming this Real Madrid side across all 38 matches of the season.
