League leaders Inter continue to impress. With a 2-0 win away against Atalanta, Inter recorded yet another victory. This means the team has extended their lead in the Serie A and the gap to second placed Napoli is now three points. Atalanta are in third place in the league.

The first half finished 0-0 and it took until the 54th minute before Carlos Augusto netted, with an assist by Hakan Çalhanoğlu, to give Inter the lead.

Atalanta’s Éderson was sent off in the 81st minute.

The 2-0 goal came right at the end of the game, when Lautaro Martínez found the net for Inter, with an assist by Nicolò Barella.

Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni was sent off in the 90th minute.

Ahead of the game, Atalanta had seven games in a row without defeat.

“The red card ruined the end of the game, which is a shame for not just my team, but for the opponents and any people watching,” Gasperini told DAZN after the defeat.

“There really was no need to go there; it was unnecessary, and the game was still open with basically 20 minutes left that could’ve been just as fascinating.

The referee was over the top with Ederson because there were other yellow card incidents earlier, such as Bellanova, while Ederson was a player who was wrong to applaud sarcastically, but the referee really ruined this match,” he added.

The next Serie A games for Atalanta are Fiorentina (away) on 30 March, Atalanta (home) on 6 April and Bologna (home) on 13 April. Inter play Udinese (home) on 30 March, Parma (away) on 5 April and Cagliari (home) on 12 April.
