A point at last for Heidenheim

VfB Stuttgart were quickest out of the blocks, and went 1-0 up when Chris Führich netted in the fifth minute.

Heidenheim equalised to make it 1-1, as Eren Dinkçi found the net, in the 20th minute.

With only eight minutes left to play, Heidenheim’s Sirlord Conteh took the lead.

The equaliser came, when Deniz Undav scored for VfB Stuttgart, with an assist by Nikolas Nartey.

Yet the result means the 10th game in a row without a win for Heidenheim.

Heidenheim play Werder Bremen on 28 February, TSG Hoffenheim on 7 March and Eintracht Frankfurt (away) on 14 March. VfB Stuttgart’s next opponents are VfL Wolfsburg on 1 March, FSV Mainz 05 on 7 March and RB Leipzig (home) on 15 March.

Heidenheim took the lead, when Arijon Ibrahimovic scored a penalty, in the 34th minute.

VfB Stuttgart equalised 2-2 just before the half-time whistle as Maximilian Mittelstädt made his mark with a penalty.

The result means Heidenheim stay in 18th and last place and VfB Stuttgart are in fourth.

Heidenheim have ended their unfortunate run of four successive defeats in the Bundesliga. The much-longed-for break came at home to VfB Stuttgart – even if it wasn’t a win. The game at Walter-Birkhold-Jugendstadion finished 3-3.
