The game at The City Ground against Chelsea finished 3-0 and was Nottingham Forest’s seventh in a row without a win in the Premier League.
Nottingham Forest play AFC Bournemouth on 26 October, Manchester United on 1 November and Leeds United (home) on 9 November. Chelsea’s next opponents are Sunderland on 25 October, Tottenham Hotspur on 1 November and Wolverhampton Wanderers (home) on 8 November.
The first half was goalless, but straight after half-time, Josh Acheampong made his mark as he netted, with an assist by Pedro Neto, to give Chelsea the lead.
Straight after the break, Pedro Neto scored and increased the team’s lead.
Chelsea further increased the lead as Reece James found the net in the 84th minute.
Chelsea’s Malo Gusto was sent off in the 87th minute.
Nottingham Forest are now in 18th place in the table, while Chelsea are fifth in the league.
Right after the 3-0 loss, Ange Postecoglou, who was only 8 games into his tenure, was fired.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” read the statement. “The club will make no further comment at this time,” an official statement from the club read.
