Monday frustration for Athletic Club as Espanyol clinches a 2-1 victory at San Mamés Barria. The La Liga battle unfolded with Athletic Club conceding two goals, resulting in a disappointing defeat for the home side.
The match was even in terms of goals until Athletic Club took the lead in the 38th minute through Álex Berenguer.
Espanyol equalised 1-1 just before the half-time whistle as Carlos Romero netted.
Straight after the break, Pere Milla scored and gave Espanyol the lead to complete Espanyol’s come back.
The result means Athletic Club stay in eighth place and Espanyol are in fifth.
Athletic Club play Osasuna on 3 January, Mallorca on 18 January and Sevilla (away) on 25 January. Espanyol’s next opponents are FC Barcelona on 3 January, Levante on 11 January and Girona (home) on 18 January.
