Torino and Parma Battle to a Gritty 0-0 Draw in Serie A Clash

Last Updated on January 8, 2025

Torino and Parma ended in a hard-earned stalemate at the half-way point of the Serie A campaign, and both sides looked comfortably positioned in mid-table come the end of the draw.

Chances were few and far between in the opening game of 2025 for both sides. The ball was saved from Che Adams’ surefire opener.

Torino were deprived of experience with their injuries, and Duvan Zapata and Perr Schuurs were part of a significant missing cast, unfortunately Parma suffered from the narrative with Dennis Man and Nahuel Estevez among eight players on their injury list. Both teams fought hard, in spite of the absence of these players.

The game itself was a tense affair.Towards the end of the first half, Torino keeper Zion Suzuki produced a stunning one-handed stop to deny Adams’ header and ensure the teams went in draw at the break. Protests erupted after Parma thought they’d broken the deadlock soon after, only for an offside flag to confirm Valentin Mihaila’s tap-in had come too soon.

Parma started the second half stronger, but did make a sensational half-time switch, with new signing Ange Yoann Bonny injecting some much needed energy into their attack.

Bonny himself drew a superb save out of Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, then turned provider for Mihaila, whose effort struck the post with power. With just moments to go, Suzuki pulled out one final top-class stop, getting a hand to Karol Linetty’s late effort to leave the match 0-0 and maintain Torino’s winless home streak.

Torino’s next three Serie A games are at home to Juventus on January 11, away to Fiorentina on January 19, and at home to Cagliari on January 24. As for Parma, they will play at Genoa on January 12, Venezia at home on January 19, and at Milan on January 26.
