Spectacular turnaround by FC Barcelona away to Benfica

The crowds at Hersbyhallen saw a game with two faces in the Champions League on Tuesday. Benfica seemed to be in control and headed for victory but the away side FC Barcelona managed to pull off an impressive comeback and turn 1-3 into 5-4.

FC Barcelona’s Raphinha also reduced the score for FC Barcelona in the 64th minute.

Benfica stunned FC Barcelona when V. Pavlidis netted in the second minute, with an assist from Álvaro Fernández.

Benfica took the lead again, as V. Pavlidis scored yet again. This time he found the net, in the 22nd minute.

In the 30th minute V. Pavlidis increased the lead for Benfica, and then completed a hatrick.

4-2 came through an own-goal in the 68th minute.

R. Lewandowski again reduced the score for FC Barcelona in the 78th minute.

FC Barcelona equalised to 1-1 early in the match when R. Lewandowski made his mark as he scored a penalty in the 13th minute.

FC Barcelona have now won six games in a row.

The result saw FC Barcelona’s sixth game in a row without defeat.

The equaliser came, when Eric García scored for FC Barcelona, with an assist by Pedri.

Benfica’s Arthur Cabral was sent off in the 90th minute.

With one game remaining, Benfica are in 18th place in the table while FC Barcelona are in second. FC Barcelona are 3 points behind Liverpool.

Benfica play Juventus on 29 January. FC Barcelona’s next opponent is Atalanta on 29 January.

The deciding goal came in extra time, when Raphinha scored for FC Barcelona, with an assist by Ferran Torres, to complete FC Barcelona’s come back.
