For the home team, the results mean sixth place in the table. Tottenham Hotspur are ninth in the league.
‘It’s disappointing. I’m absolutely gutted with that. It’s probably the worst defeat we’ve had since I’ve been here,’ Ange Postecoglou said after his side’s second-half collapse.
‘It’s unacceptable in the second half; we weren’t anywhere near where we should be. Maybe we got carried away with how we were going,’ he added.
The next Premier League games for Brighton & Hove Albion are Newcastle United (away) on 19 October, Brighton & Hove Albion (home) on 26 October and Liverpool (away) on 2 November. Tottenham Hotspur play West Ham United (home) on 19 October, Crystal Palace (away) on 27 October and Aston Villa (home) on 3 November.
