Roma extended their undefeated streak by a comfortable win to struggling Monza 4-0. Another banquet for the visitors at their deserving stage, demonstrating the side’s attacking excellence against defensive solidity. Monza never relinquished effort, but the Roma offense could not let loose. Roma, after the victory, remains in the higher half of the Serie A journal as Monza continues to seek ways to get on-board.
It all arrived early for Roma when Alexis Saelemaekers provided his side with the advantage by scoring in the 10th minute, thanks to a great assist by Eldor Shomurodov. Roma continued to drive on the pedal and got themselves a goal in the 32nd when Shomurodov scored off a Matías Soulé assist. They could not create any significant changes against Monza; however, Roma’s defense was concentrated and continued to maintain the clean sheets they had been experiencing of late.
Roma were firmly in control of the game, but only scored again in the 73rd minute. Angeliño joined the scoring act, scoring from close range following a setup by Bryan Cristante. Roma were not complete yet as Cristante topped the late flurry in scoring in the 88th minute with assistance from none other than the dynamo Paulo Dybala. The referee’s whistle left the score at 4-0 to Roma while Monza will end six matches without a win to ponder over.
This game also confirms that Roma is in great form. While Monza lingers on, Roma has their eyes on the table. Following the good night of Roma, they faced Como on March 2, Empoli on March 9, and Cagliari on March 16. Meanwhile, Monza’s upcoming match would be with Torino on March 2, Inter on March 8, and Parma on March 15.
