In the recent Real Betis against Real Sociedad La Liga encounter at Estadio Benito Villamarín, they exhibited an excellent display following their 3-0 victory. The host team was never in any way out of their depth from the beginning, and with Real Sociedad reduced to 10 players after Igor Zubeldia was sent off in the 20th minute, there was no time when Betis appeared that they would disappoint. Despite the letdown, Sociedad was firm during the first half, with the scoreline stuck at 0-0 as the first half ended.
But the match swung drastically in the early stages of the second half when Antony hit the target to hand Real Betis a valuable 1-0 advantage. The momentum went further their way when Marc Roca doubled the lead in the 64th minute, finding the back of the net to make it 2-0. Five minutes later, Roca again hit the target with the help of Antony, ending the match 3-0 in their favor.
Real Sociedad, already under pressure after the red card, was hit again when Sheraldo Becker was given a second yellow and then sent off in the 75th minute. Frustrations were evident among the visitors as they tried to mount any response, with their attacking prowess being wasted due to Betis’ solid defending and also the numerical advantage.
With this impressive performance by Real Betis, they jumped to eighth position in La Liga, whereas Real Sociedad fell to 11th position. Following this match, Real Betis are set to play against Getafe on February 23, Real Madrid on Match 2, and Las Palmas in their home on March 9. Whereas, Real Sociedad’s will try to redeem themselves against Leganés on February 23, FC Barcelone on March 1, and Sevilla in their home on March 9.
