Premier League Predictions: Who’s Going to Win It All?

Last Updated on September 12, 2024

The English Premier League is one of the most followed leagues across Europe because of its fierce competition and uncertainty. Every new season brings a set of endless possibilities, and the 2024-25 campaign is no different. Meanwhile, the speculation goes on as fans look out the EPL Fixtures for when their side will be playing and who will grab that sweet piece of silverware next May!

In this blog, we will uncover who are the top contenders to win the trophy in the EPL 2024-2025 season.

Man City (Defending Champions)

Pep Guardiola made a historic journey with Manchester City as they claimed their four consecutive championships in the last five years to etch their name among the greats of English football. This was after they had won five trophies in a fabulous year!

It was a shock after Julien Alvarez, an up-and-coming teenage prospect and all-around good player, left City for Atletico Madrid. He had been integral to the team, winning the Premier League twice and the Champions League.

Though Alvarez was viewed as a player with the potential to play an important role for City in later years, they remained convinced that his loss would not derail them. And just how good and determined this Manchester City side really is.

To fill Alvarez’s role, City acquired a young Brazilian, Savinho. He had a brilliant loan spell with another team earlier this season, and City think that he could become an important player for them.

Defending champions City begin with a tough test against Chelsea, the team they are hoping to see off in their pursuit of successive Premier League titles. And yet for now, the spotlight remains here with City and what their title-winning approach will look like.

Arsenal (Finished 2nd Last Season)

Arsenal was the team to beat for most of last season’s Premier League , but they finished in second place again, just behind Manchester City. The Gunner has played a really strong and confident game last year, which really impressed their former manager, Pep Guardiola, who is now in Manchester City.

The big one for them is they want to win the league this season. Last season, they led for so long on points in the EPL Standing but couldn’t stay with City over the last couple of months.

It was very disappointing to lose the title by just two points after waiting 20 years to win it again. But it also creates that glimmer of hope, this time they won’t do the same things wrong again. Before the campaign, Arsenal brought in just one new player, Riccardo Calafiori, a young defender from Italy. But this is expected to make their already strong defense even better.

Liverpool (Finished 3rd Last Season)

Liverpool did not have much trouble at the beginning of last season. So, it was shaping up to be a fitting last hurrah for Jurgen Klopp. It announced that he wouldn’t be returning, and the rules of the game changed fast. And the team’s performance went downhill after that.

At the start of most games, they looked strong, but they began dropping many matches. However, they managed to win a cup competition, which gave them hope for even more trophies.

Klopp was a success as Liverpool, winning the league after such a long time and also being European champion.

New manager Arne Slot has a lot of work to do. His focus now must be retaining rhythm with the team and pushing to win the league. That is not going to be easy and every Liverpool fan with an ounce of sense knows that battle will be costly.

Manchester United (Finished 8th Last Season)

Manchester United has long been a formidable behemoth. The way they recovered from the awful Munich air disaster in 1958. The Premier League, however, has eluded them since the departure of their legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. This makes it all the more painful as their cross-town rivals, by contrast, Manchester City, have taken over in spades.

The hope was that a new owner, Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS Group, would bring big changes to the club. While this is inevitable, it takes time. The current manager, Erik ten Hag is also in the firing line. He won a cup two seasons ago and beat City in another semi-final last season which probably saved his job.

With ten Hag, there have been moments with promise but he will need to pick things up very quickly if the Red Devils are eager to open the season with a strong start. If they don’t do well, people will start talking about him leaving again.
