Nottingham Forest’s unbeaten run extended after 3-2 to Southampton

Southampton’s losing streak now tallies five in a row.

The result means Nottingham Forest stay in third place and Southampton are anchored at the bottom, in 20th.

“We did not play with intensity or energy. The first goal was really bad. Really disappointed after the big game against [Manchester] United that we played the first half at that level,” Southampton boss Ivan Juric said.

“Second half we had more energy and scored two goals. It was the team I want to watch,” he added.

Nottingham Forest’s next Premier League games are against AFC Bournemouth (away) on 25 January, Nottingham Forest (home) on 1 February and Fulham (away) on 15 February. Southampton play Newcastle United (home) on 25 January, Ipswich Town (away) on 1 February and AFC Bournemouth (home) on 15 February.

Nottingham Forest enjoyed a great game in the Premier League and their eighth game in a row without defeat came at home to Southampton. The game finished 3-2.

Nottingham Forest started the match best and took the lead early when Elliot Anderson netted after 11 minutes, with an assist by Morgan Gibbs-White, making it 1-0.

In the 28th minute Callum Hudson-Odoi increased the lead for Nottingham Forest with an assist by Chris Wood.

Chris Wood made it 3-0 in the 41st minute as he found the net, with an assist by Ola Aina.

With 60 minutes on the clock, Southampton’s J. Bednarek found the net following a Lesley Ugochukwu assist to pull one back for Southampton.

Southampton pulled one back again in the 90th minute of the game when Paul Onuachu scored, with an assist by Mateus Fernandes.
