SC Heerenveen faced a challenge when they visited NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie, and the encounter lived up to expectations, concluding in a 2-2 draw.
NEC Nijmegen took an early lead when Tjaronn Chery netted after 19 minutes, making it 1-0.
SC Heerenveen equalised to make it 1-1, when Jacob Trenskow found the net, with an assist by Vasilios Zagaritis, in the 37th minute.
SC Heerenveen took the lead just before the half-time whistle as Ringo Meerveld scored, with an assist by Joris van Overeem.
With 57 minutes on the clock, NEC Nijmegen’s Tjaronn Chery found the net following a Kodai Sano assist to equalise.
So, NEC Nijmegen are still in third place and SC Heerenveen are in eighth.
NEC Nijmegen play Excelsior on 4 April, Feyenoord on 12 April and FC Twente (away) on 25 April. SC Heerenveen’s next opponents are Heracles Almelo on 5 April, AZ on 12 April and Fortuna Sittard (home) on 25 April.
