Monza secure much-longed-for win

Monza have gone through a tough spell in the Serie A with a run of five successive defeats. But after the 2-1 win at U-Power Stadium against Fiorentina, things are looking brighter.

Monza took the lead just before half time when Patrick Ciurria netted.

With 63 minutes on the clock, Monza’s D. Maldini found the net following a Pedro Pereira assist to double their lead.

Lucas Beltrán reduced the score for Fiorentina in the 74th minute.

The game was however the fifth in a row without a win for Fiorentina.

The result brings no change for the teams in terms of league position: Monza in 20th and last place and Fiorentina in sixth.

Monza’s next Serie A games are against Bologna (away) on 18 January, Genoa (away) on 27 January and Hellas Verona (home) on 1 February. Fiorentina play Torino (home) on 19 January, Lazio (away) on 26 January and Genoa (home) on 2 February.
