In a La Liga drama, Levante and Real Betis battled it out in a 2-2 draw, with neither side willing to back down.
Levante were quickest out of the blocks, and went 1-0 up when Iván Romero netted in the second minute on a pass from Carlos Álvarez.
In the 10th minute Karl Etta Eyong increased the lead for Levante with an assist by Pablo Martínez.
Real Betis’ Cucho Hernández made it 2-1 in the 45th minute as he found the net, with an assist by Sergi Altimira.
With nine minutes left to play, Real Betis’ Pablo Fornals equalised, with an assist by Abde Ezzalzouli.
Levante play Girona on 20 September, Real Madrid on 23 September and Getafe (away) on 27 September. Real Betis’ next opponents are Real Sociedad on 19 September, Osasuna on 28 September and Espanyol (away) on 5 October.
Levante are now in 18th place, while Real Betis are in 10th place.
