Inter’s Second-Half Brilliance Propels Victory Over Empoli

The Serie A clash between Inter and Empoli at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza started with a goalless first half on Sunday. However, Empoli asserted dominance in the second half, securing a convincing 3-1 victory.

The first half finished 0-0 and it took until the 55th minute before Lautaro Martínez netted, with an assist by Nicolò Barella , to give Inter the lead.

Seven minutes left to play, Empoli’s Sebastiano Esposito reduced, with an assist by Liam Henderson.

D. Dumfries increased Inter’s lead with an assist by K. Asllani, in the 79th minute.

Inter increased the lead to 3-1 just six minutes later as M. Thuram found the net, with an assist by M. Arnautović.

The result saw Inter’s 15th game in a row without defeat.

It was Empoli’s sixth game in a row without a win.

The result leaves Empoli in 14th place, while Inter are in second place. Inter are 3 points behind Napoli.

Inter play Lecce on 26 January, Milan on 2 February and Fiorentina (home) on 9 February. Empoli’s next opponents are Bologna on 25 January, Juventus on 2 February and Milan (home) on 9 February.
