Heidenheim have gone through a tough spell in the Bundesliga with a run of five successive defeats. But after the 2-2 win at Red Bull Arena against RB Leipzig, things are looking brighter for Heidenheim with at least a much longed-for point.
Heidenheim started the match well and took the lead when Mathias Honsak netted after 6 minutes, with an assist by Jan Schöppner, making it 1-0.
The game was however the seventh in a row without a win for Heidenheim.
In the 13th minute Marvin Pieringer increased the lead for Heidenheim.
RB Leipzig’s Loïs Openda made it 2-1 in the 45th minute as he found the net, with an assist by Benjamin Šeško.
In the 64th minute, Benjamin Šeško equalised for RB Leipzig.
The result means that RB Leipzig have taken points in six straight games.
It leaves Heidenheim in 16th place and that RB Leipzig are in sixth place.
The next Bundesliga games for RB Leipzig are FSV Mainz 05 (home) on 1 March, SC Freiburg (away) on 8 March and Borussia Dortmund (home) on 15 March. Heidenheim play Borussia Mönchengladbach (home) on 1 March, TSG Hoffenheim (away) on 9 March and Holstein Kiel (home) on 16 March.
