Fiorentina and Torino had a hard-fought draw in their most recent encounter with a 1-1 scoreline in Serie A. Both sides deserved a point from the pretty eventful game. The hosts did take the lead in the first half, but Torino came back strongly to earn an equalizer before the break. As was the case with most matches played in this series, both teams sought that winner but it was a stalemate anyway; pushing the winless streak for Fiorentina up to six games played.
Fiorentina’s match also took a drastic turn. Torino player, Ali Dembele, was given a red card in the 33rd minute. However, the team maintained the game fairly even with their disadvantage of playing one man less than the required ten men until minutes later Fiorentina could exploit the player advantage. In the 38th minute, the deadlock was finally broken by Moise Kean who slotted in a key goal to edge the hosts ahead.
Torino never lost hope, as they fought tooth and nail in the second half. Finally, it was for them when Gvidas Gineitis was able to push the ball into the back of the goal in the 70th minute, which meant equalizing at 1-1. This gave new life to the visitors and staved off Fiorentina’s possibility of taking the lead again before being taken back home with just the point.
This outcome sends Fiorentina back to the sixth position, with Torino remaining in the 11th place. The teams are now bound for upcoming games. Fiorentina will then play against Lazio on January 26, Genoa on February 2, and against Inter on February 9. Torino, on the other hand, will face Cagliari on January 24, Atalanta on February 1, and Genoa on February 9.
