Sierhuis’ Brace Inspires Fortuna Sittard’s Triumph Over AZ

It was AZ’s fifth game in a row without a win.

Fortuna Sittard clinched a resounding 4-3 victory over AZ at Fortuna Sittard Stadion in Sunday’s Eredivisie showdown.

Fortuna Sittard took an early lead when Justin Lonwijk  netted after 9 minutes, with an assist by Mohamed Ihattaren, making it 1-0.

AZ equalised to make it 1-1, as Troy Parrott found the net, with an assist by Mees de Wit, in the 19th minute.

AZ took the lead, when Sven Mijnans scored, with an assist by Alexandre Penetra, just two minutes later later.

Fortuna Sittard equalised 2-2 just before the half-time whistle as K. Sierhuis scored, with an assist by Ryan Fosso.

Fortuna Sittard also made it 3-2 in the 54th minute, when K. Sierhuis scored, with an assist by Ivo Pinto.

Mees de Wit equalised for AZ in the 71st minute.

The deciding goal came right at the end of the game, when P. Brittijn scored for Fortuna Sittard, with an assist by Mohamed Ihattaren.

Fortuna Sittard are now in 11th place in the table, while AZ are seventh in the league.

Fortuna Sittard play Go Ahead Eagles on 11 January, PSV on 17 January and FC Groningen (away) on 25 January. AZ’s next opponents are FC Volendam on 10 January, PEC Zwolle on 17 January and Telstar (away) on 25 January.
