It took until the 76th minute before Ross Barkley, with an assist by Leon Bailey, gave Aston Villa the lead.

The equaliser came in extra time, when Evanilson netted for AFC Bournemouth, with an assist by Marcus Tavernier.

The result leaves Aston Villa in third place, while AFC Bournemouth are in 11th place.

Aston Villa’s next Premier League games are against Tottenham Hotspur (away) on 3 November, Liverpool (away) on 9 November and Crystal Palace (home) on 23 November. AFC Bournemouth play Manchester City (home) on 2 November, Brentford (away) on 9 November and Brighton & Hove Albion (home) on 23 November.
