On Saturday, Chelsea outlasted Liverpool in a close encounter, winning 2-1 at home the Premier League.
Chelsea started the match well and took the lead when Moisés Caicedo netted after 14 minutes, with an assist by Malo Gusto, making it 1-0.
With 63 minutes on the clock, Liverpool’s C. Gakpo found the net following a Alexander Isak assist to equalise.
The deciding goal came in stoppage time, when Estêvão found the net for Chelsea, with an assist by Marc Cucurella.
The result means Chelsea are now in sixth place in the table and that Liverpool are second in the league. Liverpool are 1 points behind Arsenal.
“I felt the game was even; maybe they were better in possession but we started off really well in the second half. It wasn’t a surprise to me that we scored. I think in that period of time, I felt as if we could go one up in the last 10 to 15 minutes,” Arne Slot said following the defeat.
“It was an end to end game. We had chances to win it, they had chances to win it. And in the end again, we concede in the last second again,” he added.
Chelsea’s next Premier League games are against Nottingham Forest (away) on 18 October, Chelsea (home) on 25 October and Tottenham Hotspur (away) on 1 November. Liverpool play Manchester United (home) on 19 October, Brentford (away) on 25 October and Aston Villa (home) on 1 November.
