Wednesday’s Champions League fixture saw Chelsea triumph over Ajax in a captivating home encounter. With an initial lead of 4-1, Chelsea extended their advantage to secure a 5-1 victory.
Ajax were left with a man down early on, when Kenneth Taylor was sent off in the 17th minute.
Chelsea started the match best and took the lead early when Marc Guiu netted after 18 minutes, with an assist by Wesley Fofana, making it 1-0.
In the 27th minute Moisés Caicedo increased the lead for Chelsea with an assist by Jamie Gittens.
Ajax’s Wout Weghorst made it 2-1 in the 33rd minute as he made his mark with a penalty.
In the 45th minute Enzo Fernández increased the lead for Chelsea from the penalty spot.
Estêvão made it 4-1 just zero minutes later later as he scored a penalty.
Straight after the break, Tyrique George made his mark and increased the team’s lead.
Chelsea’s next Champions League games are against Qarabağ (away) on 5 November, Chelsea (home) on 25 November and Atalanta (away) on 9 December. Ajax play Galatasaray (home) on 5 November, Benfica (home) on 25 November and Qarabağ (away) on 10 December.
