The 2-0 goal came in extra time, when Alessandro Deiola netted for Cagliari, with an assist by Gianluca Gaetano.
It was Leonardo Pavoletti who opened the scoring for Cagliari in the 30th minute of the goalless match, with an assist by Zito Luvumbo.
Hellas Verona’s Daniele Ghilardi was sent off in the 85th minute.
