It was Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s sixth game in a row without defeat.
On the road in Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture, Bayer 04 Leverkusen secured a dominant 4-3 victory over FSV Mainz 05 at Mewa Arena.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen took an early lead when Alejandro Grimaldo scored a penalty after 11 minutes, making it 1-0.
In the 24th minute Christian Kofane increased the lead for Bayer 04 Leverkusen with an assist by Ernest Poku.
FSV Mainz 05’s Jae-sung Lee made it 2-1 in the 34th minute as he netted.
In the 45th minute Alejandro Grimaldo increased the lead for Bayer 04 Leverkusen with an assist by Jonas Hofmann.
The deciding goal came in stoppage time, when Armindo Sieb scored for Bayer 04 Leverkusen, with an assist by Nadiem Amiri.
The result means FSV Mainz 05 stay in 16th place and Bayer 04 Leverkusen are in fifth.
It took until the 71st minute before Nadiem Amiri reduced the score FSV Mainz 05.
The 4-2 goal came, when Martin Terrier found the net for Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
FSV Mainz 05 play VfB Stuttgart on 26 October, Werder Bremen on 1 November and Eintracht Frankfurt (away) on 8 November. Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s next opponents are SC Freiburg on 25 October, FC Bayern München on 1 November and Heidenheim (home) on 8 November.
