The first half finished 0-0 and it took until the 55th minute before Mateo Chávez netted supplied by Luis Romo to give Mexico the lead.
With 61 minutes on the clock Mexico’s Julián Quiñones found the net following a Jorge Sánchez assist to double their lead.
