France Opens World Cup with Win Against Senegal

In their World Cup opener, France secured a 3-1 victory at New York New Jersey Stadium over Senegal. The match saw a 0-0 scoreline at halftime before France clinched the win.

The first half finished 0-0 and it took until the 66th minute before Kylian Mbappé netted with an assist by Michael Olise to give France the lead.

France’s next World Cup games are against Iraq on 22 June and Norway on 26 June. Senegal play Norway on 23 June and Iraq on 26 June.

With only eight minutes left to play France’s Bradley Barcola increased the lead after a feed from Adrien Rabiot.

The goal that reduced the score to 2-1 came in extra time when Ibrahim Mbaye found the net for Senegal played in by Iliman Ndiaye.

The deciding goal came in extra time, when Kylian Mbappé scored for France assisted by Michael Olise.
