Borussia Dortmund took the lead in added-time in the first half when Serhou Guirassy netted, with an assist by Aarón Anselmino.
Villarreal’s Juan Foyth was sent off in the 52nd minute.
In the 54th minute, Serhou Guirassy increased the lead for Borussia Dortmund.
Karim Adeyemi also increased the lead for Borussia Dortmund just four minutes later later.
Borussia Dortmund found the net once more, this time through Daniel Svensson, with an assist by Pascal Groß, in the 90th minute.
Borussia Dortmund’s next Champions League games are against Bodø/Glimt (home) on 10 December, Tottenham Hotspur (away) on 20 January and Inter (home) on 28 January. Villarreal play FC København (home) on 10 December, Ajax (home) on 20 January and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (away) on 28 January.
