Oufkir’s Last-Minute Strike Seals Sparta Rotterdam’s Win at Excelsior

Sparta Rotterdam snatched a dramatic late victory against Excelsior in the Eredivisie, thanks to 19-year-old Ayoub Oufkir.

It was a tight contest with few clear chances, but the breakthrough finally came right at the death. In the 90th minute, Oufkir found the net after a clever assist from Patrick van Aanholt, handing Sparta a hard-fought 1-0 win away from home.

Excelsior’s task got even tougher when Arthur Zagré was shown a red card in the 78th minute, leaving them to finish the game with 10 men.

The result lifts Sparta Rotterdam into eighth place in the table, while Excelsior sit down in 16th.

Looking ahead, Excelsior face FC Volendam on 20 September, then host a home clash on the 27th before meeting SC Heerenveen away on 4 October. Sparta’s next fixtures include FC Twente on 19 September, Heracles Almelo on 27 September, and a big showdown with Ajax on 4 October.
