Following a challenging period, Fortuna Sittard has reignited their Eredivisie campaign with a crucial 2-1 victory over RKC Waalwijk, securing their first win after a six-game drought.
The equaliser came in stoppage time, when Silvester van der Water found the net for RKC Waalwijk.
Fortuna Sittard started the match well and took the lead early when Alessio Da Cruz netted after 8 minutes, with an assist by Jasper Dahlhaus, making it 1-0.
The deciding goal came in extra time, when Ryan Fosso scored for Fortuna Sittard, with an assist by Kaj Sierhuis.
It leaves Fortuna Sittard in eighth place and that RKC Waalwijk are in 17th place.
RKC Waalwijk play PSV on 15 March, PEC Zwolle on 29 March and AZ (away) on 1 April. Fortuna Sittard’s next opponents are Heracles Almelo on 8 March, FC Groningen on 16 March and Sparta Rotterdam (home) on 29 March.
