England, Slovenia, and Denmark Reach Knockout Stage; Serbia exits the tournament

England 0-0 Slovenia

England battled against Slovenia in a 0-0 match in their final group stage at Euro 2024. Though this match ended with a draw, it was enough for England and Slovenia to reach the knockout rounds.

Throughout the whole game, England struggles to create scoring chances. There were so many misplaced passes and lack of movement and the only goal that they scored was even disallowed as it came from an offside position. Even after halftime, not only did England fail to find their momentum but also Slovenia. The match ended with both teams missing their chances of scoring a goal.

But despite this, both teams were still able to progress in the competition and continue their Euro campaign.

Denmark 0-0 Serbia

Denmark claimed their seat in the Euro 2024 knockout stage after their 0-0 draw against Serbia. Although they held a shot advantage, Denmark was unable to put together an effective scoring attack and ended up with three straight draws this tournament.

While Denmark dominated the possession with playmaker Christian Eriksen leading the attack, in terms of finishing that’s where they seemed to be lacking. Serbia, on the other hand, sought a firm rear guard and frustrated Danish attacks to prevent Mitrovic from scoring. Both sides thought they had scored but saw goals disallowed in controversial circumstances as the tension ramped up a notch.

However, despite being scoreless in the whole match, they were able to secure a knockout spot for the next round. For Serbia, this drawn match pushed them to face their elimination after finishing last in Group C by having one loss and two draws. As their journey ended, it left Serbia with great disappointment as they departed from the Euros feeling emotionally drained from their previous World Cup campaign.

Now, Denmark will wait for the UEFA’s final group stage to determine who they’ll face in the Round 16.
