Mateta got the decider when Crystal Palace sink Tottenham Hotspur

“But today, all the credit to the players, how they dealt with the situation, because everybody was saying ‘no win, no win’, and they stayed cool; they always had a good mood; very good training week; and that’s why we all got the reward today,” he added.

Crystal Palace have finally ticked in the winning column.

Crystal Palace’s next Premier League games are against Wolverhampton Wanderers (away) on 2 November, Crystal Palace (home) on 9 November and Aston Villa (away) on 23 November. Tottenham Hotspur play Aston Villa (home) on 3 November, Ipswich Town (home) on 10 November and Manchester City (away) on 23 November.

The first-half goal from Mateta was the only goal of the game. Crystal Palace won 1-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

It was the first victory for Palace after a eight-game winless run.

There was no real shape to the match until Crystal Palace took the lead just after the half-hour mark through Jean-Philippe Mateta, who netted, with an assist by Eberechi Eze, making it 1-0.

Crystal Palace are in 17th place after the game, while Tottenham Hotspur are in eighth.

“We showed this courage, we showed the intensity, we showed the bravery, how we pressed them, the intensity, and maybe this was what we were a little bit missing,” Oliver Glasner, who was under intense pressure before the match, said after Palace picked up their maiden win of the season.
