Continued Frustration for Southampton as Arsenal Encounter Ends in Loss

Arsenal also made it 2-1 in the 68th minute, when Gabriel Martinelli found the net, with an assist by Bukayo Saka.

The result brings no change for the teams in terms of league position: Arsenal in third place and Southampton in 19th.

Arsenal entertained Southampton at Emirates Stadium in a match that finished 3-1. The result meant Southampton’s seventh game in a row without a win and that they are still winless in the Premier League.

The first half finished 0-0 and it took until the 55th minute before Cameron Archer netted, with an assist by Mateus Fernandes, to give Southampton the lead.

With 58 minutes on the clock, Arsenal’s Kai Havertz found the net following a Bukayo Saka assist to equalise.

The 3-1 goal came, when Bukayo Saka scored for Arsenal, to complete Arsenal’s come back.

The result means that Arsenal remain undefeated this season after taking points in seven straight games.

‘We had some big moments. We hit the bar, hit the post, we scored a good goal, but we’re not in front for long enough, and that’s the only frustration,’ Southampton’s manager, Russell Martin, said in a post-match interview.

Arsenal’s next Premier League games are against AFC Bournemouth (away) on 19 October, Arsenal (home) on 27 October and Newcastle United (away) on 2 November. Southampton play Leicester City (home) on 19 October, Manchester City (away) on 26 October and Everton (home) on 2 November.
