Chelsea’s run of five straight wins in the Premier League ended away to Everton. Sunday’s game at Goodison Park finished 0-0.
The result means Everton have kept a clean sheet in three consecutive games.
It leaves Everton in 15th place and that Chelsea are in second place.
“I’m absolutely happy. I just said to the players that I’m more happy today than after the Brentford game. The reason why is because I was quite worried about this game. It’s a tricky game, tricky stadium, tricky team,” Enzo Maresca said, despite seeing his side miss out on the chance to go to the top of the table temporarily.
Everton play Manchester City on 26 December, Nottingham Forest on 29 December and AFC Bournemouth (away) on 4 January. Chelsea’s next opponents are Fulham on 26 December, Ipswich Town on 30 December and Crystal Palace (away) on 4 January.
